Day One

Day One will be filled with experiencing the history and culture of these unique towns, all located right outside of Rome in the Beautiful Castelli Romani

Frascati

Breakfast, Coffee, & History!

  • The town of Frascati is full of beautiful villas, all from historic wealthy families. Start out your morning visiting Villa Torlonia, located at the entrance of the city and a must see when visiting. Next, wander around the beautiful town square with the majestic building Villa Aldobrandini.

  • Make sure to explore the historic center. Grab breakfast and coffee at a local cafe, one great option Bevedere, or opt for Frascati's famous white pizza.

  • If you wish to spend more time in Frascati or learn more about the towns. history, you can also visit the Museo Tuscolano-Scuderie Aldobrandini!

  • Buy or try some wine! We recommend Frascati Superiore DOCG or cannellino di frascati DOCG.

  • Make sure you enjoy the panoramic view â€‹of Rome before leaving the town!

  • Bonus! On the way to the next town, Monte Porzio Catone, you can find shops that sell wine ice cream!

Monte Porzio Catone

History & Tradition​

  • Once arriving in Monte Porzio Catone, enjoy the view overlooking the Pre-Appennini.

  • Visit the Tocca statue, commemorating a local dog who was frequently found at the church of Monte Porzi.

  • Continue to explore local villas by visiting the Barco Borgese e Villa Mondragone.

  • Walk around the little pretty historic center.

  • If hungry, stop for lunch and enjoy the authentic cuisine.

  • Tip: When looking for restaurants, any spot with a lot of locals attending, no english. menu, and outdoor options is always a solid bet for authentic Italian food!

Grottaferrata

Religion & Culture

  • Begin your time in Grottaferrata by visiting the Exarchic Greek Monastery of Santa Maria di Grottaferrata or “Abbazia greca Di Dan Nilo”.

  • Enjoy the elegant historic center, shopping and exploring.

  • A great gelato stop, especially on a hot day! Or try granita, a sicilian classic that is Italy's take on a slushie.

  • Tip: If gelato is stacked super high, that means it has more preservatives to keep it frozen. For the freshest gelato, look for silver tins/canisters with lids on top that are located down in a freezer!

Rocca Di Papa

Castles, Aperitivo, Sunset, & Dinner

  • The very interesting village is formed by a labyrinth of narrow streets.

  • Explore the geophysical museum and the remains of the castle.

  • Get aperitivo, snacks and a drink, when arriving to the town to kick back, relax, and enjoy the slower pace like the Italians do.

  • Tip: The Italians love their wine and their spritz, so either get the house red or white wine, or try an aperol or hugo spritz!

  • For sunset, enjoy the view of the Tusculum: the perched village that can be admired from the main square

  • Partake in a long, slow dinner enjoying vino (wine), antipasti (appetizer), primo or secondi (first or second course/pasta dishes and main dishes), dolce (dessert), and top it off with a digestivo (digestive shot) or a café (espresso).

  • For dessert, try the donuts of the bride and groom.
