Ariccia Day Tour

One of the easiest ways to explore Ariccia is on a one-day tour of the town. I recommend checking out the top attractions and activities in Ariccia.

Tour Guide

Your day should be spent exploring Ariccia! Start your morning at Antico Caffe. Right in the heart of Ariccia, you can enjoy a cappuccino and croissant with lovely outdoor seating and kind owners. Afterward, walk the beautiful nature trail through Chigi Park.

Continue your nice stroll through the town square and enjoy a famous porchetta sandwich from Fraschetta Antico Grottino, attached to the Chigi Palace for lunch. Grab your sandwich and head down the hill to the lookout. Here, you will enjoy your sandwich while soaking in Ariccias beautiful scenery.

Once you’ve finished enjoying your view, head over to the square to explore the roman catholic Santa Maria Assunta Church, one of Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s very own.

Next, you will walk across the street to the famous Chigi Palace. Be sure to book a tour on their website before going. Enjoy a one-hour tour at a time of your choosing. Walk around the museum, learning about the Chigi Family, and retrace the multifaceted activity of Gian Lorenzo Bernini for the Chigi family, for whom he worked as an architect, urban planner, sculptor, painter, medallist, and furniture designer.

By the time you conclude your Palace tour, you will most likely need a mid-day snack. Just up the hill from the Chigi Palace is one of the best gelato and bakeries in Ariccia, Bamby. Pick up a gelato and enjoy your afternoon treat outside.

I suggest walking back to the square and walking through the Locanda Martorelli museum, where you will be able to experience most of Ariccias fascinating history. This museum includes enriching architecture and archives from The Grand Tour and more.

End your night by dining at any Fraschetta restaurant below the bridge. You will not be disappointed with any one of these typical Castelli Romani restaurants. Or, treat yourself to a nice meal at Ariccia's Michelin Star Restaurant, Sintesi. Be sure to catch the sunset over Ariccia. The bridge has amazing views of it.
